About the Book

Lyn writes ‘Ridley Theological College (now Ridley Melbourne Mission and Ministry College) has been part of my life since my late husband Norman Allchin entered the College in 1953. In the 1990’s the then Principal of the College, The Reverend Graham Cole, asked me to write an account of Norman’s life and ministry for the Ridley College library. In was in recognition of his contribution to the College, and as a record of evangelism in that period.

‘Time has elapsed and now it seems appropriate to redo the book for the staff and students of Ridley Melbourne, the Bible College of Victoria (now the Melbourne School of Theology), for past parishes and for many friends who helped Norman.

‘It is also for my family and particularly for our grandchildren, who did not have the opportunity to know their Grandfather.’

Amanda Coverdale of CATTAC PRESS structurally edited The Making of An Evangelist.

Norm was the one who asked on a church noticeboard “What would you do if God came to Hawthorn today?” only to get the famous graffito in reply “Move Peter Hudson to Centre Half Forward”.
